J.T. Duff, 75, Found Dead on Birthday

Mt. Pulaski --- John Thomas Duff, retired farmer and prominent resident of Logan county, was found dead in bed at
8 o'clock Friday morning at his home in Mt. Pulaski. Mr. Duff was found by members of his family when they went to deliver a telegram sent by a son to his father contratulat- ing him on his seventy-fifth birthday anniversary.

A doctor was called and examination showed death had occurred about four hours previous due to a heart ailment. Coroner E. C. Goff conducted an inquiry Friday morning.

Mr. Duff, a lifelong resident of Logan county, was born near Lincoln, August 20, 1861, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Duff. He was married in Blunt, S.D. June 21, 1885 to Miss Kitty Graham. For several years they resided on a farm in South Dakota and later came to Logan county, farming until the family retired and established their home in Mt. Pulaski.

Surviving are his widow and the following ten children: Harry D. Duff, Mt. Pulaski; Mrs. E. D. Weckel, Moline; Mrs. Willard Armstrong, Beason; Ted E. Duff, Lincoln; Dean Duff, Clewiston, Florida; Robert Duff, Harvard, IL; Mrs. R. V. Copper, Withie, WI; Richard Duff, Waukegan, Blane Duff, Davenport, IA; Benjamin Duff, Peoria.

Surviving brothers and sisters are: Charles E. Duff, Centralia, MO; James M. Duff, Milwaukee, WI; Mrs. Harry Braucher, Urbana; Mrs. H. S. Oyler, Lincoln; Mrs. Douglas Hamer, San Diego, CA; Mrs. Blanche Pegram, Chicago; Mrs. Henry Pegram, Canton, IL; and Miss Jessie Duff, Cleveland, OH. Mr. Duff was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
