Funeral services will be held on Tuesday afternoon at four p.m. for Thomas Franklin Turley, widely known Decatur resident, who passed away Saturday night at 11:59 at his home, 812 Line Street. He was 86 years of age.
Services will be conducted by Dr F K Gamble, superintendent of the Decatur district, and interment will be made in City cemetery, Brown directing.
Mr Turley was the son of the late Mr and Mrs John Buchanan Turley, of Knoxville, Tenn, coming to Decatur upon graduation from East Tennessee University at Knoxville, to accept the position as bookkeeper for his late uncle, John Fletcher Scott. At the expiration of two years Mr Turley accepted a position with the L & N Railroad Co, retiring at the age of seventy-four.
His wife, nee Miss Mattie Harper, of Decatur, passed away thirty-two years ago at the home at 812 Line St Decatur.
One son, Thomas Franklin Turley, Jr had preceded the father to the grave.
Mr Turley is survived by three children: Mrs Mary Turley Royer, Buford Buckley Turley of Decatur and John Harper Turley of Pine Bluff, Ark; a son-in-law, Wilburn Morris Royer and daughter-in-law, Mrs John Harper Turley; three sisters, nieces and nephews of Morristown, Tenn; a sister-in-law Mrs M H Todd, nieces and nephews of Decatur; five granddaughters and two grandsons of Pine Bluff, Ark.
