Martin Bernard Breighner served as a Private 1st Class in Company A, 103rd Field Signal Battalion, 28th Infantry Division, United States Army during World War I.

He was a son of Pius Gregory and Amanda Martha (Topper) Breighner.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army on November 5, 1917 at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.

He first served in Company A, 316th U.S. Infantry Regiment, 79th Infantry Division.

He then served in Company B, 304th Field Signal Battalion.

He then served in the 103rd Field Signal Battalion to the time of his discharge from the Army.

He served in the engagements in the 5th German Offensive, at Ourcq and Vesle, in the Meuse-Argonne Campaign, and in the Thiaucourt Sector.

He served overseas from May 18, 1918 to May 7, 1919.

He received a gunshot wound to his face on October 6, 1918.

He received his discharge from the Army on May 19, 1919 at Camp Dix, New Jersey.

He was originally from New Oxford, Pennsylvania.

He was married to Beulah Elizabeth (Wagaman) Breighner on May 27, 1921 in Pennsylvania.

They were divorced on December 18, 1936 in Wayne County, Michigan.

He was interred in the Gettysburg National Cemetery on June 13, 1958.
