Ervin "Ray" Wheeler, age 82, of Bixby, OK passed away on Friday, October 5, 2007 at Southtown Nursing Center in Bixby, OK.

Ray was born on July 21, 1925 in Morris, OK to Grover and Sarah (Slape) Wheeler. He received his education in the Tulsa, OK school system. On December 18, 1943, he enlisted in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged on January 20, 1946. He and Alice L. Burton were united in marriage on March 21, 1946 in Tulsa, OK. In 1980, he came to the Broken Arrow area from Tulsa.

Ray worked as an electrician for 20 years until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of the Clearview Baptist Church in Broken Arrow, OK. His hobbies included woodworking, golfing, and painting.

Survivors include one son, David Wheeler and his wife, Carol, of Bixby, OK; one daughter, Brenda Wheeler of Lawton, OK; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son, Gary, and one sister.

Graveside services were at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in Broken Arrow, OK with Rev. Larry McDonald officiating. Honorary pallbearers were David Michael Wheeler, Joey Shaleen, Sean Shaleen, Zach Shaleen, Eric Shaleen, and Johnny Wheeler.
