Journalist, printer and radical reformer, who edited the "Cambridge Intelligencer" and later the "Political Review". He was sympathetic to the cause of freedom in the French Revolution and wrote a book, "The French Constitution" in 1792, which advocated radical change in Britain. His wife, Eliza, who kept up his spirits, when he suffered imprisonment for libel in Newgate Jail London, is buried with him. So are his daughters, Sarah Flower Adams (1805-48) and Eliza Flower (1803-46), who were gifted musician, poets and progressives. The hymn, "Nearer my God to Thee," which was reputed to have been played by the band, as the Titanic sank on the 15th April 1912, was written by Sarah Flower Adams.
