THE WEST VIRGINIA MURDERS

Story of the Killings of Albert Burd and Sam Perry.

PARKERSBURG, W. Va., Sept. 22. - It developed to-day that the murder of Albert Burd at Mendahls last night occurred during a fight between Albert, George and Lewis Burd and Henry and John Cavaney, who met at a dance at John Swassey's house. Albert Burd, who was unarmed, knocked Henry Cavaney down with his fist. Cavaney drew a pistol and began shooting. The first shot struck George Burd in the cheek, the second Lewis Burd in the chin, while the third struck Albert Burd in the heart, causing death in six minutes. Cavaney immediately disappeared and has not yet been captured. There are nine brothers of the Burd family, who swear vengeance against their brother's murderer.
