LUTHER O'NEAL TAKEN BY DEATH AT COLESBURG
Lifelong Resident of Community Passes:
Luther O'Neal a lifelong resident of Colesburg died at his home here at 5:30 a.m. June 18, following a long period of poor health.
Born August 1, 1880, Mr. O'Neal was the seventh in a family of nine children of Mr. and Mrs. Ira O'Neal.
He married Alta Gore, who died in January 1919, and they were the parents of five children., two of whom died in infancy, and a son, Russell, died at the age of eight.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Lorell Livingston and Mrs. Roy Smith, both of Colesburg. Also surviving are the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Sarah Robinson of Edgewood, Charley of Denver, Colorado; Willis of Edgewood and Esther and Fred of Colesburg. Two brothers, Frank and Ralph, and a sister, Nettie preceded him in death.
As a farmer, Mr. O'Neal was best known as a keeper of fine horses and it was a common sight to see him in the fields of his farm with a fine span of horses.
Following the death of Mrs. O'Neal in 1919, Miss Esther O'Neal, his sister and a teacher, came to take charge of his home and care for his family. She continued teaching for a number of years.
