Arvie L. Burton, 65, Columbia, died Wednesday, July 19,2000 at his residence.

He was born in Adair County, February 1, 1935 to the late Lucian Burton and the late Margie Gentry Burton Murray.

He was a retired bus driver and carpenter and a baptist. He also sang with several local gospel groups in the area.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Ben Burton. He is survived by his wife, Alberta McGaha Burton; two sons, Steve Burton of Russell Springs and Boyd Burton of Shelbyville,Tennessee;
two daughters, Shelia Loy and her husband Ronnie of Jamestown and Erica Burton and her husband Royce of Russell Springs; seven grandchildren, Tim Loy, Jill Loy, Kris Burton, Kiela Burton, Leisha Lovell, Luke Burton and Allie Burton; one step grandchild, Chris Loy; four great grandchildren, Jacob, Leah, Blake and Josh; one brother, Marcus Burton of Indianapolis, Indiana; mother and father-in-law, Jack and Edith McGaha of Russell Springs; three sisters, Verlean Conover, Edna Doss, and Hazel Bryant all of Columbia; and one special aunt,Opal Gentry.

Funeral services were held Friday, July 21, 2000 at Bernard Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Kenny Kimbler officiating.
Burial was in Bethlehem Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Robert McKinney (Honorary), Randall Doss, Leon McGaha, Jackie Grider, David Bledsoe, Dave Doss and Bill Allen.
Bernard Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
