Obituary from the Palatka Daily News - Word has been received here of the sudden death of Hon. Augustus Monroe of McMeekin, which occurred at Orange Springs last Sunday afternoon, of heart failure. Mr. Monroe was apparently well during all the earlier part of the day, and ate a hearty dinner with apparent relish. Immediately after dinner he went out on the porch and dropped dead.
Mr. Monroe was a man who stood high in the estimation of his neighbors and with all who had the good fortune to know him. He represented Putnam county in the legislature in 1879 and 1891 and looked after the interests of his constituents faithfully.
