A resident of Baton Rouge, she died at 5:44 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010, at The Carpenter House. She was 100. Visiting at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Tuesday, Jan. 26, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
Survived by two daughters, Lura Sharp, and Eloise 'MiMi' Wood and husband Jim; five sons, Clay J. Parent Jr., Ervin P. Parent and wife Brenda, Ellis R. Parent and wife Gail, Edward J. Parent and wife Mary Ann, and Kerry A. Parent and wife Mary "Liz"; two sisters, Ruby Edmonston and Ida Mae LeBlanc; many nieces and nephews including Robert Denny and wife Flo; 34 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren and 25 great-great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her husband, Clay J. Parent Sr.; parents, Cleophas and Jane Argrave; daughter, Shirley Ann Babin; three sons, Ernest, Earl and Perry Parent; daughter-in-law, Laura Parent; son-in-law, Marshall J. Sharp, Jr.; two grandchildren, Darren Parent and Dana Parent; two great-grandchildren, Jeff Hanlin and Nicole Parent; three sisters, Evelyn Martin, Amelia Martin and Ruth Rheams; and three brothers, Melvin, James and Mervin Argrave. She was a member of Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and the Ladies Altar Society. Memorial donations can be made to The Carpenter House-St. Joseph Hospice, 10615 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge, LA 70809.
