ATHOL -- A memorial service for Beatrice M. (Theriault) Alexakis, 84, of 42 Colonial Dr. was held Thursday, Oct. 16, at Higgins-O'Connor Funeral Home with the Rev. Fr. William Lunney, pastor of St. Mary's Church in Orange, officiating.

Burial followed at Silver Lake Cemetery and a reception was held at the Ellinwood Country Club.

Higgins-O'Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main St., Athol, directed arrangements.

ATHOL -- Beatrice M. (Theriault) Alexakis, 84, of 42 Colonial Dr., died Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008 at the Athol Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Ashland, Maine, Aug. 3, 1924, the daughter of William and Phoebe (Cloukey) Theriault. She grew up in Beverly and Salem, attending schools there and since 1945 has resided in Athol. She had worked for the former Ansin Shoe and McElwain Shoe Shop for several years. Bea was an avid gardener, enjoyed walking, knitting, painting, bird watching, but most especially spending time with her family. She and her husband spent several winters in Myrtle Beach, SC and in Florida.

She leaves her husband of 61 years, John P. Alexakis; a son, Michael Alexakis and his wife Theresa of Roxboro, NC; two daughters, Catherine Lyesiuk and her husband Gene of Athol, and Susan Berry of Orange and her fiancé Paul Morizzo of Leominster; seven grandchildren, Kelly, Neil, Erik, Alexis, Ashley, Michael and Nicholas; four great grandchildren, Jacob, Ariana, Kaeden and Jagger. She also leaves a brother, Robert Theriault of Georgia. She was predeceased by a sister, Rita Later.

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, Oct. 16 at 10 a.m. at Higgins-O'Connor Funeral Home, 146 Main St., Athol with the Rev. Fr. William Lunney, pastor of St. Mary's Church in Orange officiating. There will be a calling hour Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.

Burial will follow at Silver Lake Cemetery and in lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, Mass. 01701-4688.
