Mr. Copeland Joined Popeyes In 1973, The Year After His Brother Al Founded It. He Became Senior Executive Vice President Of Al Copeland Enterprises, The Umbrella Company For Popeyes And Copeland's Restaurants, And He Was A Member Of The Board Of Directors Of The Popeyes
International Franchisee Association. Mr. Copeland Also Was Chief Executive Officer Of Pontchartrain Foods Inc., Which Had Nine Popeyes Famous Fried Chicken And Biscuits Restaurants In Louisiana, Florida And Mississippi. Mr. Copeland, A New Orleans Native, Graduated From St. Aloysius High School, Attended Tulane University And Served In The Navy. He Was A Former Member Of The Boards Of The Louisiana Restaurant Association And The International Franchise Association, And He Had Been On The National Restaurant Association's Advisory Board. He Was Instrumental In Endowing The Prestigious Al Copeland
Chair Of Franchising At Louisiana State University In Baton Rouge. Mr. Copeland Was Also An Endowed
Professorship Of Business Administration At Lsu, As Well As A Philanthropist Who Supported Educational And Civic Organizations. He Also Was A Board Member Of The Jefferson Performing Arts Society And The Multi-Unit Food Service Organization. He Is Survived By: His Beloved Wife, Carolyn Jean O'steen Copeland; Children: William Allen Copeland Iv And Walter Copeland Both Of Honduras And Dr. Leslie Copeland; Two Brothers: Gilbert E. Copeland Of Covington And Al Copeland Of Metairie, La; And Six Grandchildren. Relatives And Friends Of The Family Are Invited To Attend The Funeral Service On
Tuesday, September 21, 2004 At 1:00 P.M. In St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 6249 Canal Blvd. Interment To Follow In Metairie Cemetery. Visitation Will Be On Tuesday, September 21, 2004 At 11:30 Am In St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home Is In Charge Of The Arrangements. In Lieu Of Flowers Donations To The Jefferson Performing Arts Society And/Or The Lsu Health Sciences Center.
