Last Rites Sunday for Mrs. L. Caskey. The death of Mrs. Lavada Caskey occurred Friday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Schlitt of Superior. The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the Presbyterian church in Webber, with Rev. W. A. Stockwell presiding. The following obituary was read: Lavada Caskey, daughter of Godfrey and Prudence(Taylor) Saylor, was born July 15, 1858, near Delta, Iowa and passed away Sept. 6, 1940 at the home of her daughter at the age of 82 years, 1 month and 12 days. On Dec 16, 1877 she was united in marriage to Charley A. Caskey. To this union were born ten children, her husband and six children having preceeded her in death. In early life she united with the Christian church and was a faithful member all her life. In 1901 she moved with her family to Missouri, residing there until 1910 when she moved to her home near Webber, Kans. The past year was spent with her daughter in Superior. She leaves to mourn, two daughters, Dolly Schlitt of Superior and Ella Dahl of Webber; two sons, Ira Caskey of Hume, Mo., Noah Caskey of Mankato, Kans.; 16 grand children, 12 great grand children, a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Pallbearers were her grandsons, Junior Caskey, Charles Caskey, Clarence Caskey and Tom Gilihan. (Died 6 Sep 1940)


Lavada Saylor parents were Godfrey Saylor and Prudence Taylor. Lavada Saylor married Charles Alexander Caskey on December 16, 1877 at Keokuk County, Iowa. This couple had eleven children - Henry L. Caskey, Elmer Caskey, Ira Caskey, Sarah Eva Caskey(died young), Maude Caskey Overman, Lewis Caskey, Noah Caskey, William Caskey(died young), Ella Caskey Dahl, Charles Caskey(died young), and Dolly Caskey Scherich.
