RICE, Ollie – Ollie Rice, son of Rev. I.T. Rice, died at an early hour Saturday morning at his home two miles north of Brightwater. Funeral services were held Sunday evening at Buttram's Chapel and were attended by a large number of friends and relatives. Mr. Rice, who was about twenty-four years of age, had been working most of the past three years in a railroad roundhouse at Pawnee, Okla. He still owned his farm north of Brightwater and last years returned home early in the spring in time to put in a crop and remained all summer. Shortly after his return home last year he was married to Miss Eliza Green of near Brightwater and they had one child. In the fall they went to Pawnee. This spring, Mr. Rice was afflicted with kidney trouble and the railroad sent him to their hospital at Topeka, Kansas. On his return trip from the hospital he was hurt in a wreck at Emporia, being quite badly cut about the head and receiving internal injuries. He returned home about three weeks ago and it is not though unlikely that this death was the result of his old trouble and complications resulting from the shock received in the wreck.
