Clair Irvin 'Johnny' Bish, 88, of South Bethlehem, died at 9 pm Tuesday, July 29, 1997 at Allegheny Manor in Shippenville.

Born March 26, 1909 in Oak Ridge, he was the son of Reed Jacob and Elva Leona (Himes) Bish. He married the former Twila S Snyder on April 15, 1942. She preceded him in deth on March 4, 1989.

Mr Bish was a retired coal miner. He later worked as a police officer in New Bethlehem. Mr. Bish attended the Springside Baptist Church in New Bethlehem. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America. Mr. Bish also belonged to Masonic Lodge NO. 522, F&AM of New Bethlehem, and the New Castle Consistory.

He is survived by his sister, Lena McIntire of Philipsburg; and a number of nieces and nephews. In additon to his wife and parents, Mr. Bish was preceded in death by two brothers, Norman Bish and Ivan E Bish.

Funeral services were held at 11 am Friday, August 1, at the Charles D Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn. The Rev. Kenneth Brougham, pastor of the Sprinside Baptist Church in New Bethlehem, officiated.

Interment was in Mount Zion Cemetery in Beautiful Lookout, Armstrong County.
