Death of W.B. Orvis

Passed Away at Famil Home Late Saturday Afternoon.

William B. Orvis of 500 North C street passed away at the family home late Saturday afternoon after a lingering illness. It was reported Saturday that his death was momentarily expected. The direct cause of death was apoplexy, although Mr. Orvis had been in poor health for sometime past. Mr. Orvis, who had been a resident of Arkansas City for several years, leaves a wife and five children to mourn his death. The children are Joe Orvis of California, Mrs. Nora Garner, of Wichita, Mrs. Edna Bishop, Miss Alma and Miss Hazel of this city. Mrs. Garner is here at present and her husband will be here to attend the funeral. The son who is in California will not be able to come to Arkansas City at present.

Funeral services are to be held tomorrow afternoon at 1 o'clock at the residence, conducted by Rev. J.E. Henshaw, of the Christian church. Interment will take place in Riverview cemetery.

W.B. Orvis was aged 66 years, 1 month and 13 days. He was a native of Simpson county, Kentucky. The wife and children have the heartfelt sympathy of many friends in their sad bereavement.
