Loss Grover Ponds, 63, moved to the Red Top Community in 1912. He was killed instantly in a highway accident one mile west of the Loving community. Mr. Ponds had been to vote and was on his way home in his wagon when he was struck by an empty Dodge cattle truck. The wagon was demolished and one of the mules was killed. His wife was riding with him until a few minutes before the accident when friends offered her a ride home.
Services were held at the Red Top Cemetery.
Survived by his wife; five daughters; one son.
