Ida Marbaker Smith Little of Charlottesville, formerly of Buena Vista, Virginia, died Tuesday, January 19, 2010, at the University of Virginia Medical Center, at the age of 90.

She was born in Pennsylvania, February 26, 1919, to the late Vera Ida and William J. Marbaker. During a vibrant and full life, Mrs. Little lived in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, Texas and Nebraska.

Glenn Smith, her first husband, Silas Little, her second husband; and daughters, Barbara Jane Smith and Vera Gill, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Little is survived by daughters, Charlotte Wilcox of Crozet and Janet Klos of Key Largo, Florida, and their husbands; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; her brother, William Marbaker; and sister Betty Turner, and their spouses.

Mrs. Little graduated from Southern Seminary and Junior College in Buena Vista and from West Chester State University in Pennsylvania. She taught elementary school in Virginia and Pennsylvania. After retirement, Mrs. Little and her first husband, Glenn, traveled the country as national callers of square, folk, and round dances. While living in Texas, Mrs. Little was a docent at the Wildflower Center established by Lady Byrd Johnson. In recent years, Mrs. Little enjoyed traveling the United States and overseas to Egypt and Israel.

Mrs. Little was an energetic and gracious woman who enriched the lives of all who knew her. She epitomized her "can do" generation, meeting life's challenges head on. She will be long remembered by her friends at the Colonnades as the Little Lady with the bright smile and the zippy red scooter.

A family service was held at graveside in the Philadelphia area in March.

Memorial donations may be sent to the American Cancer Society and will be greatly appreciated.
