24 Dec 1908 in Indiana Evening
Gazette, Indiana Co., PA. (21) YOUNG GIRL MET WITH CRUEL DEATH ON
TRACKS - Pearl Boring had been at the New Florence Tower with
friends - LOVE AFFAIR MENTIONED - Coroner had to determine wether
or not the girl ended her life - victim's family well known -

Miss Pearl Boring, the 19 year old daughter of William Boring, a
resident of West Wheatfield township, this county, met a terrible
death while walking on the Pennsylvania tracks a short distance
east of New Florence at 10 o'clock Wednesday night. Coroner
Winn, of Greensbug, was notified and he held the investigation.

The unfortunate young woman had gone to the New Florence tower to
see William Cline, the operator there, who had been keeping
company with her. It is understood that the young people had
quarelled and their difficulties were probably discussed during
the girl's visit. An hour after she left Cline, her body was
found laying on the bank of the Conemaugh River, it having been
hurled some distance from the track.

A fast flyer passed shortly after Miss Boring met Cline and it is
presumed that she was run down by it. Whether death was caused
by Accident or a suicide is not known, and may never be
ascertained. The young woman was highly respected in the
community, and also in Johnstown, where she resided for several
years. Cline is regarded as a steady railroader, and it is
doubtful if his actions led the girl to self destruction.
