Mrs. Elsie Davis Payne, 53, of Route 2, Mountain Home, died Thursday, Sept. 23, in the Van Buren County Hospital at Clinton. She was a resident of the Buford community, south of Mountain Home.
Funeral services were held at 2 pm Monday at the Fairview Methodist Church of Buford, with Rev. Bill Stinnett officiating.
Interment was in Fairview Cemetery, under the direction of the McClure Service. Pallbearers were Abe Heiskill, George Johnson, Henry Bettag, Louis Knight, Howard Wynn, and Ray Martin.
Mrs. Payne, the daughter of Steve Davis and Minnie Merrill Davis, was born July 18, 1912, in Baxter County. She was a lifetime resident of the county and a member of the Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include her husband, J. E. Payne of Mountain Home; a son, Gene Payne of Kansas City, Mo.; a daughter, Mrs. Reba Helskill of Mountain Home; four grandchildren;
three brothers, Joe Davis of Idaho, and George and Sanford Davis, both of Summerson, Wash.; and three sisters, Mrs. Nancy White of Mountain Home, Mrs. Mary Earnhart of Conway, and Mrs. Donnie Hulsenbeck of Michigan.
