RICHMOND- David Arthur Shiflett Sr., 71, passed away at his home in Richmond, Indiana on Sunday January 17, 2010. A son of the late Rolla Jackson and Jesse Vivian Spalding Shiflett, Dave was born in Richmond, Indiana on May 16, 1938. He grew up in the Western Wayne community and attended Lincoln High School. He had worked at D & M in Connersville and Kemper Cabinet in Richmond before he had to retire do to his health. He enjoyed old cars and was a member of the Centerville Classic Car Club. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, the former Rosetta Steele, whom he married in Lewisville, Indiana on November 11, 1958. 1 son, David Arthur Shiflett Jr. of Lynn; 2 daughters, Doris Vivian Fisse of Greenfield and Donsetta Lynn Pike of Richmond; 8 grandchildren ; 12 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Robert Jackson Shiflett of Pershing. David was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Emily Huddleston and Charlotte Ryan and 1 brother, Rolla Francis Shiflett. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. till the time of services at 5 p.m. on Wednesday January 20, 2010. Hospice Chaplain David Garman and David's nephew Jack Shiflett will officiate. Cremation will follow.
