He was born January 28, 1873, in Floyd County, Kentucky, and lived in Alger during the last 11 years.
He was married to Merkia Cole April 15, 1946.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Shady, of Mannikon, West Virginia, George and Newman of Pt. Huron, Michigan; two daughters, Mrs. Claressa Peak of Pt. Huron, Michigan and Mrs. Rosie Pilton, 515 W. Ottawa; eight step-children; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Hanson Funeral Home, Alger, with Rev. Evan Richards officiating.
Burial will be in Preston Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Friday.
