Brandy Wayne Medrano was born the son of Jackie Langston-York on September 13, 1971 in Providence, RI. After graduating from high school, Brandy attended college. He then started a career in construction work and as an electrician until becoming disabled. When he wasn't working, Brandy loved the great outdoors. He was happy spending a day fishing or working outdoors cutting wood. He enjoyed an evening out dancing. He was quiet by nature and loved spending time fishing with his nephews. His family was important to him and he treasured every moment he spent with those he loved. He was Christian by faith and attended Swimmer Baptist Church. Brandy passed from this life on Monday, January 18, 2010 at his home in Hulbert, at the age of 38. He is preceded in death by his sister, Kaca Coon in 2009, Grandma Barbara Welch, Grandparents Major and Elsie Langston, and Grandma Wanda York. His late uncles include Clifton Moore, Ted York, Terry York, and Guy Langston. Brandy's memory will be treasured by his loving mother Jackie Langston-York and father John York of Hulbert, OK, loving father Ray Langston, and grandfather Kenneth Welch of Lost City, OK. He is survived by his 21-year old son, Joseph Michael Lane of Santa Barbara, CA; his brothers and sisters, Vanessa Johnson and Jessica Dallas, both of Tahlequah, brother–in-law, Brian Coon of Tahlequah, L.J. York and wife Leslie of Okay, OK and Sam York of Tahlequah. Brandy's aunts and uncles include Christie and Richard Bridges, William Moore, Shawn and Maline Moore, Martha Moore, Joyce and Kevin McFarland, Norma and John Landers, Kathy and Bill Morgan, Floyd and Lisa Langston, Roy and Stacy Langston, Glen and Jolene Langston, Vernon and Vonda York, Phil and Debbie York, Kathy Smith, Carla and Kenny Barber, Marla and David Shiplet, and Nellie and Mike Jeffs. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones. Brandy faced and overcame many challenges in his life. Those wishing to honor his memory are asked to consider making a donation in his name to an organization devoted to assisting people in times of crisis. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at Mt. Zion Cemetery near Hulbert. Pastor Sam Keener of Swimmer Baptist Church will officiate. Viewing will be Monday, January 25, 2010 at Hart Funeral Home. Services have been entrusted to the care of Hart Funeral Home of Tahlequah.
