Mary was the second of 12 children born to Stephen Jackson & Sophia (Jackson) Frazee.

Obituary:
Mary P Frazee was born in Ohio, Sept. 20th, 1834. She came to Iowa with her parents in 1839. She was united in marriage to Elijah B. Kirkendall in April 1858. They immediately moved to Kansas and remained there eight years. Returning to Iowa they settled on a farm 2 1/2 miles below Leando and lived there over 40 years. She united with the Methodist Episcopal church when a girl and was a faithful and devoted member of the same for 65 years. To Mr. and Mrs. Kirkendall were born six children, George A., died in infancy, Stephen Emmett died in 1892. Her husband preceded her in death Dec. 31st, 1914. Her demise occurred Sept. 23rd, 1915. To few people is it allotted to live so long. When a father and mother are permitted to live together in the home for 57 years and round out over four score years each, their children have much for which to be thankful when their lives have been Christ-like in character; surely they may rise up and call them blessed. The surviving children are Dr. E. E. Kirkendall of West Blurlington, owa; Mrs. T. M. Carver of Cambridge, Mass.; Rev. J. Kirkendall of Corning, Iowa; and Mrs. E. Heckard of Leando, all of whom were present at the funeral, which was held at the Douds church in charge of the pastor, E. S. Hehner, Saturday at 2 p.m. Burial was in the Leando cemetery.
