Joseph Luce, s. of Israel Luce & Grace Baker, was b. at Tisbury, Mass. circa 1703, and d. at Tolland, Conn. on Dec. 16, 1780, Æ 78. He was the paternal grandson of Henry Luce & Remember Litchfield, early settlers of the town of Tisbury on Martha's Vineyard, Mass. His mother Grace Baker was the maternal granddau. of the immigrant Isaac Robinson of Barnstable, Mass., s. of Rev. John Robinson of Leyden, the Netherlands, pastor of the Mayflower pilgrims.
Joseph's parents relocated from Tisbury, Mass. to Windham, Conn. when he was a youngster. On July 18, 1727, Joseph m. 1) at Windham, Conn., Elizabeth Rood, who d. at Tolland, Conn. on Jan. 30, 1754.
