Ole Christian Jensen was born in March, 1849 (sic), at Dronninglund Parish Jutland, Denmark, but he lived his childhood days on the little island of Hirsholme off the coast of Denmark. He was only fourteen years old when he went to sea, and for fifteen years he sailed upon the great oceans visiting many a foreign strand. In 1878 he married Christine Jensen. He took up the vocation of fisherman on the coast of Denmark. He practiced this trade until 1913. So lfty (sic) years practically did he spend upon the sea. Mr. and Mrs. Jensen came to America in 1913 and have resided from that time until his death on a farm between Ruskin and Hardy. Mr. Jensen has been ailing the last two years, but not until about three months ago has he been compelled to be bedfast. He passed away August 22, at 1 o'clock a.m. at the age of 76 years and 5 months. He leaves behind his wife and seven children. Three of whom are back in Denmark. Four are in American. They are: Mrs. H.P. Haansen (sic), Hardy; Mr. Anton C. Jensen, Hardy; and Johanones and Therdora reside in Denver. He also leaves twenty grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Carlsen Sunday afternoon from the home and later from Bethany Danish Lutheran church south of Ruskin. Interment was made in the Ruskin cemetery. -- Ruskin News.
