ASA W. HATCH
Miss Marguerite J. Hatch, well known employe of the Interstate Publishing Service Co. office, has been called to Springfield, Ohio, by the death of her father, Asa W. Hatch, age 80 years, well and favorably remembered by many older residents of Newcastle. His death came after a long illness of a complication of diseases due to his extreme age.
Mr. Hatch came from Ohio to Newcastle in the early '60's to rebuild the old Strickland mill, which stood on North Fifteenth street. He took up his home here and became active and prominent in town and county affairs. He served as county clerk by appointment of the commissioners, and was later chief bookkeeper in the First National bank. Mr. Hatch left Newcastle twenty-five or thirty years ago.
The funeral occurred at Springfield.
