Florence was married twice with her first marriage to Reid Clark Taplin, born April 22, 1896 in Wautoma, Waushara County, Wisconsin, son of Eugene Taplin and Carrie Smith. He died December 6, 1923 in Wisconsin, aged 72 years, 11 months and 18 days, and was buried in the Wautoma Union Cemetery in Wautoma, Waushara County, Wisconsin. Their known children were:
