"ROBERT SHIELDS. Robert "Bob" Shields, 71, of Odessa and formerly of Santa Anna, died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 1997 in a Brownwood hospital. Services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 7, 1997 in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel in Coleman with Tommy Briscoe officiating. Burial followed in Santa Anna Cemetery.
He was born in Whon and attended school in Santa Anna. He served with the U. S. Navy during World War II. He lived in Santa Anna for several years before moving to Odessa, where he was a longtime resident. He was a retired drilling consultant and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4372 in Odessa. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Shields of Odessa; a son, Bobby Lynn Shields of Austin; a daughter, Susie Hoagland of Austin; his mother, Maud Shields of Santa Anna; two brothers, Myrl Shields of Brownwood and Leo Shields of Santa Anna; four sisters, Edith Gilbert of San Angelo, Leona Frazee of Oklahoma, Evelyn Wright of Fort Worth and Lonell Thate of Santa Anna; and five grandchildren
