Died in 55th year of his life.

Served as a Private in the Georgia Militia during he American Revolution.

Inscription:

Sacred to the memory of
Thomas Stevens, Esq.

Whose superior talents, politeness and
Piety rendered him a distinguished armament
Of society and commanded the esteem and
Confidence of his fellow citizens. As a
Deacon of this church, a Judge of the
Inferior Court, and member and a speaker of the
Legislature of the State, and in all the
Public stations which he filled, he displayed
That regard for truth and order, that firmness
And energy, and that fidelity in truth,
Which characterize the good citizen and the
Sincere christian.

He departed this life on
The 7th day of April, 1801, in the 55th year
of his age universally lamented.

From mournibg friends beneath inclement skies
To God and bliss behold the Christian rise.
Died in 55th year of his life.
