Eden Jay Crandell, son of William and Harriet Crandell, was born November 21, 1859 at Lyons, Michigan, and departed this life at the family home December 17, 1918, aged 59 years and 27 days. On November 5, 1884 he was married to Miss Katharine M. Troyer of North Plains. To this union were born seven children, two of whom died at infancy and Tressa, who passed on May 20, 1916.

He leaves to mourn his loss a widow and four daughters and seven grandchildren; Mrs. Ettia Fisher of Elwell, Mich.; Mrs. Maude Sage of Muir; Mrs. Sylvia Price of Alma, and Miss Edna who resides at home. He is also survived by five brothers and two sisters: Giles and Charles, both of Grand Rapids; Mrs. Eva Greenhoe of Elwell; Mrs. Lily Ludwick of Muir; William Crandell of Muir, Hiram of Ionia and George of Muir.

He will be greatly missed in the community in which he has spent the last 20 years of his life. He was always a kind and thoughtful neighbor and his never failing good humor won for him many friends.
