Aileen was born on September 1, 1923, in Norway, Kan., the daughter of Dale R. and Laura Eastvedt Ainsworth. She attended elementary and high school in Wichita, Kan., until the family moved to Kansas City, where she graduated from Southwest High School in the class of 1941. She attended MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Ill., for one year, and then transferred to University of Kansas, where she graduated in 1945. Aileen was a member since 1938 of the Second Presbyterian Church in Kansas City, Mo., where she was married in 1948.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dale R. and Laura Eastvedt Ainsworth; her brother Robert R. Ainsworth, and a grandson, W. Tyler Anthony.

She is survived by her loving husband, William L. Van Auken, and sons Daniel Van Auken and wife Peggy of Colorado Springs, Richard Van Auken and wife Laurie of Prairie Village; daughter Alisa Rolling and husband William of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; six grandchildren to whom she was a loving "Guggy" - Matthew Van Auken (wife Kimberly), Suzanne Karel (husband Ben), Parker Anthony, and Peter, David and Steven Van Auken, and five great-grandchildren, Hailey, Elizabeth, and Charles Van Auken, and Luke and Mason Karel; her nephew Robert Randolph Ainsworth and niece Elizabeth Stroope, and many loving cousins.

Aileen was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority at the University of Kansas. She was an active and loving supporter of her children's activities and interests, serving as a den mother, PTA president at Westwood View Grade School, chauffeur, and number one rooter at many tennis and track tournaments and little league baseball games. She was a former president of the Janet Boone Society, a volunteer for many years at the front desk of St. Luke's hospital, earning the recognition of 5,000 hours of service. She was active in the Florence Crittenton Center, serving on its auxiliary board, and a fundraiser for the Children's Cardiac Center Heart Auction held for many years on Valentine's Day in the Ranch Mart Auditorium.

"Guggy" was a wonderful, loving, selfless, considerate spouse, mother, grandmother and friend. The most important thing to her in life was her family.
