Virginia Ellen Gann Elzie Hodges, 77, formerly of Burkburnett, Texas, was the youngest and most fragile of four children of W.A. Sr. and Iva Lee Gann. She was the only sibling born in a hospital.
Leaving behind sons with wives, Donald Leslie Elzie and Kerri, Jerry Lynn Elzie and Rhonda, both of Austin; daughter and son-in-law, Rick Roberts and Eva Renee Elzie Roberts of Lakeview, Ore.; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Oden of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Patsy Gann of Fort Worth, Texas; brothers-in-law, Roy Elzie of Lufkin, Texas, and (Roland) Red Elzie of Carpenter; and a host of nieces and nephews of two generations who were precious to her until the very end.
Preceded in death by mother; father; sister, Georgia Fern Pappas; brothers, W.A. Jr. and Arthur Lee Gann; husbands, Daniel S. Elzie (48 years) and R.E. (Bob) Hodges (three years); brother-in-law, Demo Pappas; nieces, Laura Beth Gann and Pat Pappas; and son, Norman Elzie (two weeks).
Funeral services were held March 31 at the Burkburnett Church of Christ in Burkburnett with Roy Christopher of Central Church of Christ officiating.
