He was born Sept. 9, 1921, in Caseyville, Ky., to Fonzo G. and Ora Waddell Tabor, and lived in Topeka since 1951.
He was a painter and worked for several painting contractors before he retired in 1984.
He was a member of Local No. 96 of the Painters Union.
He married Dorothy J. Koch on Nov. 18, 1947, in Topeka. She survives. A son, Eric Carl Tabor, died Oct. 20, 1949. A daughter, Shannon Gail Tabor, died Nov. 16, 1950.
Other survivors include a son, Stephen C. Tabor, Topeka; a brother, Frank Tabor, Denver; a sister, June Beagley, Aurora, Colo.; and two grandsons.
Burial will be in West Lawn Memorial Gardens west of Topeka. Mr. Tabor will lie in state after 1 p.m. today at the funeral home, where relatives and friends will meet from 6 to 8 p.m.
