Gerhard John Amt, 75, of Inwood, W.Va., died Friday, Jan. 15, 2010, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born November 17, 1934 in Easton, Md., he was the son of the late Rev. Paul Gerhard Amt and Dorothy (Brandes) Amt.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, sons, brothers, sister,and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

He was a graduate of Valparaiso University and a veteran of the U. S. Air Force. He was a community planner for the S. E. Connecticut Regional Planning Agency in Norwich, Conn. and an active member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winchester, Virg. He was also a blood donor for over 50 years and volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and Tax Aid for the AARP.

A memorial service will be Saturday, Jan. 23, at 11 a.m. at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor James Utt officiating.

Burial of his ashes will be in Grace Lutheran Memorial Gardens in Mount Hebron Cemetery, Winchester, Va.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Thanksgiving Memorial Fund of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 26 W Boscawen Street, Winchester, Virg., 22601.
