LOUIS STEINER DIES; AGED 86
Louis J. Steiner, 86, former McKeesport street commissioner for 43 years, died last night at the home of a daughter, Mrs. John H. Coles, 236 Dutch Lane, Pleasant Hills. He resigned from his city post nine years ago. Friends are being received at the Volk-Jaycox Funeral Home. Requiem high mass will be celebrated by the Rev. C. Fromme at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Mary's German Roman Catholic Church and burial will follow in St. Mary's German Cemetery. Born Jan. 5, 1872, in Bull Run, Mr. Steiner was a son of the late John and Christine Fey Steiner. He resided most of his life in McKeesport. He was a member of St. Mary's German Church, the B.P.O.E. of McKeesport and held life memberships in the McKeesport Turners and the German Beneficial Union. He leaves his widow, Mrs. Jessie McCartney Steiner; two sons, Louis F. of Jefferson and Col. Raymond P, Steiner with the U.S. Army; two daughters, Mrs. S. Hamer Fleming of Pennington, N.J., and Mrs. Coles, with whom he resided; a sister, Mrs. Bernard Harden of McKeesport; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
