PAMPLIN--Horace Wilder Coleman, Jr., 95, of Route 1, died Monday, March 28, 1994 in Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of the late Jeanette Grubb Coleman. Born in Johnston, Pa., Jan. 10, 1899, a son of the late Margaret Hoggard and Horace W. Coleman, Sr. Mr. Coleman servied on the Appomattox County Board of Supervisors from 1980-83, serving as chairman in 1983. He was a member of St. Anne's Episcopal Church, Pamplin Chapter of AARP 2295, Pamplin Ruritan Club, Southside Masonic Lodge No. 0191, Pamplin Chapter of Eastern Star No. 58, Young at Heart Club of Elon Baptist Church, Boy Scouts of America for 50 years, Appomattox Long Term Care Council, Appomattox Job Placement Advisory Board, Central Piedmont Private Industry Council, Central Virginia Manpower Planning Consortium and Professional Insurance Agency's Association. He is survived by three sons, James H. Coleman of Los Angeles, Calif., Spencer A. Coleman of Norfolk and Edward H. Coleman of Virginia Beach; a daughter, Mrs. Jo Anne Coleman Owen of Mathews County; a sister, Margaret C. Graves of Hopewell; 21 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Horace W. Colman, III. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Elon Baptist Church by Dr. Edward Bushong, the Rev. Wyatt Venable and the Rev. Steve Tyree. Burail will follow in Piney Ridge United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the residence. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial be made to the Appomattos Rescue Squard or St. Anne's Episcopal Church. Robinson Funeral Home in Charge of arrangements.
