From Monroe Evening News Online: Emma I. Bofia, 92 years, of Ida, MI passed away Friday, October 17, 2014 at Aspen Grove in Lambertville. Emma was the business manager and bookkeeper for the former Bofia’s Sunoco Station where she worked with her husband Leo for 51 years beginning in 1947. Emma was born August 16,1922 in Ida, MI to Andrew and Ella (Bruneau) Bruckert.
She had attended Cleary College and began her working career at the Toledo Scales. Emma married Leo Bofia on June 29, 1946 in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Ida. He preceded her in death on May 8, 1998, after nearly 52 years of marriage. Emma enjoyed bowling (she was extremely proud of picking up a 7-10 split) and going to the casinos with her friends. She also enjoyed knitting, sewing, baking, painting, and doing crafts. Most importantly, she loved to spend time with her family. She was a member of the West Ida Emmanuel Lutheran Church and the Red Hat Society.
She is survived by her loving son, John (Laura) Bofia; daughter, Claudia (Mike) Ruedisueli; grandchildren, Amanda (Don) Polyak, Megan (Mike) Ferrari, Alyssa Ruedisueli, Angela Ruedisueli; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday, October 21, 2014 from 4 PM until 8 PM in Urbanski’s Bedford Funeral Chapel 8300 Lewis Avenue Temperance, MI where the Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at 11 AM. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Ida. Memorial donations may be made to West Ida Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Online condolences may be shared at www.bedfordfuneralchapel.com .
