Illness Fatal.
Retired Farmer Had Lived in Community Since 1889.
John C. Morton, 81, died at the Osawatomie hospital Wednesday afternoon following a 12-year illness.
He came to this community from Nebraska in 1889 and settled on a farm. Later he moved to town and lived there until 12 years ago when he went to the Osawatomie hospital. Mr. Morton was born in Illinois, March 4, 1861, and was married to Ellen Talbot in February 1883, in Cheney, Neb.
Survivors include the widow: three sons, Emory, of route two, Joy, of route four, and Pete of Wichita; a daughter, Mrs. Maybelle King of Osawatomie; a brother Al Morton of Cheney, Neb; 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are not complete. The Morris-Crates Mortuary is in charge.
