Ralph Neubert, 87, of Waco, Texas, passed away Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010. He was interred in a family plot in Calvary Cemetery in St. Louis, Mo. on Thursday morning. Pastor Joel Boesche of St. Paul's Lutheran Church will officiate at a memorial service at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 16, at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors Chapel in Waco.

Ralph was born in Kirkwood, Mo,, to the late August and Ida Neubert, and graduated from Missouri Institute of Science and Technology (formerly Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy) in 1942 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He later earned an AMP from Harvard University. He began his career with Monsanto Corporation after college. He continued in various positions with the company, except for his service in the U.S. Navy from 1944-1946, until his retirement as Director of Strategic Planning for the corporation in 1982. One of his most challenging positions was as Vice President of Monsanto Research Corporation and Director of their Mound Laboratory for the Atomic Energy Commission. He also served as adjunct faculty for Washington University in the graduate business school, teaching advanced seminars in International Business.

After his retirement from Monsanto, Ralph relocated to Waco, and joined his daughter in Coldwell Banker Hallmark Realty, serving as CEO for 14 years. He also provided consulting services to Stamford Research Institute (SRI). He was instrumental in development of the concept of Strategic Management, and was honored by the Planning Executives Institute as a Fellow. Ralph was active in volunteer service at both the local and national level as a Director of the United Way of Waco-McLennan County and of the United Way of America. He also served as a director of the Waco Association of Realtors, and a Representative to the Texas Silver Haired Legislature. He was a Member of the Advisory Committee for HOTCOG for the Area Agency on Aging until recent months. Ralph and his wife Rosemary, celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in Oct. 2009.

He is survived by his wife, Rosemary S. Neubert; daughters, Barbara Rusling Lloyd and husband, Jack, of China Spring; Jody Neubert, of Portland, Ore., and Nancy Moore and husband, Reed, of China Spring; sons, Steven Neubert, of Columbia, Mo., John Neubert and wife, Gail, of Littleton, Colo. and Jim Neubert and wife, Deborah, of The Colony, Texas; grandchildren, Keith, Steve, and Eric Wieser; Jennifer Benavidez; Dan and Anna Neubert; Lisa and Michael Neubert; and Ethan Neubert; and great-grandchildren, Ryan, Jake, and Josh Wieser, Luke Wieser, and Lily and Eric Benavidez.
