Lula trusted the Lord as her Savior at the age of twelve and was baptized in the San Antonio River. After graduating from High School, Lula married Adolph Henry Barth of Concrete, Texas. It was a while later, Lula attended college. She graduated from Pan American University at Edinburg, Texas in 1969 with Bachelor of Science in Education and taught school for 15 plus years. Lula and Adolph were married in 1933, during the Great Depression. They first resided in a rural community 15 miles south of Corpus Christi, Texas. Starting a life together during some of the most difficult years of American history (Depression and WWII) Lula held to strong faith in the Lord. Lula and Adolph raised nine children on a farm in the Rio Grande Valley.
In 1979, after the death of Adolph, Lula moved to Mission, Texas and continued teaching in private schools. Lula left the Valley in 2002 to reside in New Braunfels, Texas; then in 2007 she moved to Cedar Park for the rest of her life.
Lula's parents, James Arthur and Lela Eula, were Christians and the family attended a small Baptist church near Smiley, Texas.
