James Edward Adams, 49, died Tuesday in VA Northern Indiana Health Care System.

Mr. Adams was born in Dayton, Ohio, to the late James P. Adams and Josephine (Ashley) Cope on Sept. 2, 1957. His mother survives. He served in the United States Marine Corps in Vietnam and also served for three years in the Army National Guard Reserves.

He was a self employed carpenter and had also worked at the Marion VA Hospital. He was a member of the American Legion Post 10 and VFW. He loved hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Deborah K. (Green) Adams; mother, Josephine Cope, Marion; daughter, Celina Adams, Va.; son, Jacob Adams, Va.; three sisters, Cathy Graves, Marion, Paula (Kevin) Pauley, Upland and Jonell (Bernie) Tyree, West Milton, Ohio; three stepchildren; four grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a nephew, David "Little Red" Graves.

Services with military honors are at 11 a.m. today in VA Chapel. Burial is in Marion National Cemetery.

There is no visitation.
