WINNEBAGO - Lueva Irene (Parker) Brauer, 89, of Winnebago died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009, in the home of her son, in Troy, Mo., surrounded by her children. Born Dec. 30, 1919, in Rockford, the daughter of Vilas and Huldah Jane (Hanford) Parker. Raised in Lincoln Park; confirmed at Messiah Lutheran Church, Rockford; and graduated from Winnebago High School in 1937. Married Harold E. Brauer on Feb. 9, 1940, in Messiah Lutheran Church, and farmed in Winnebago all their married life. Active member of First Presbyterian Church, teaching Sunday school and Bible school, choir member, Mary Martha Circle and very active in United Presbyterian Women. Also was a member of Winnebago Garden Club, Winnebago and Rockford card clubs, and Winn-Boone Holstein Club, and volunteered at Rockford Memorial Hospital for many years. She loved going to her grandchildren's sporting events. Her passion was working side by side with her husband in her large flower and vegetable garden, and graciously hosted garden walks that were open to the public at the family farm. Lueva is lovingly survived by Randy (Pat) Brauer, Orangeville, Parker (Mary), Troy, MO, Connie (Chas) Chaney, Sterling, Allyn, Fox Lake; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother DuWayne in Ohio, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by husband, Harold Brauer; daughter, Cherie Brauer; brother, Philo Parker; and daughter-in-law, Kathy Brauer. Service at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 15, in First Presbyterian Church. Burial in Winnebago Cemetery.
