John Dotson served as the 1st postmaster of Gamaliel serving from Aug 29, 1870 to May 24, 1872.
He was the son of Watt A. Dotson & Harriet Howard and married Mary J. Jones from Clinton county. They were married by Dr. A W Potter. He was born on December 19, 1840 and died on November 30, 1877 at the age of 36.
