Born to Jacob and Julianna Reitenbach on a farm north of Lorlie, Saskatchewan. In 1919 his parents bought a farm 2.5 miles south of Lemberg, Saskatchewan.

Fred married Ruth Geres in 1944, first farming east of Lemberg then moving to his parents farm in 1948. They lived on the farm until 1962 when they moved into Lemberg but Fred continued farming this land until 1980. Their farm was immediately south of my family's farm. Fred and Ruth provided child care for my parents (looking after my brother and I) from time to time. I have lots of fond memories of Fred and Ruth.

In 1964 Fred became one of the first school bus drivers in the district when all the country schools were closed and busing was required to get all the rural students to the "town" school. He drove school bus for 10 years.

After Ruth passed away in 1982 Fred continued to live alone in their house in Lemberg. On April 23, 1988 Fred married my grandmother who had lost my grandfather to a heart attack in 1981. He lived in Lemberg until 2004. Fred had developed Alzheimer's disease and Grandma was no longer able to care for him at home. He moved into the Balcarres Integrated Care Centre in the fall of 2004 and passed away there on December 15, 2004.
