Mrs Effie Wiant Northcraft, 83, former teacher in the Champaign county schools, died late Tuesday in the home of her daughter, Mrs Ross M Greenawalt, 26 West Cassilly St, Springfield. The body was removed to the Littleton funeral home in Springfield and was to be returned to the Greenawalt residence Thursday morning to lie in state until time for the funeral services. Mrs Northcraft attended Wittenberg College and later taught in the public schools in Champaign County. She formerly resided in Grandview, a suburb of Columbus and was a member of Grandview Methodist church. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs Greenawalt, Springfield, and Mrs Raymond Dowdell, Hamilton; two half brothers and 10 grandchildren. Three daughters predeceased her: Elsie Northcraft, Mabel Starcher Peck and Helen Prince Northcraft. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm Friday in the Littleton funeral home. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, St Paris
