Wilford Hayes, 94, lifetime resident of Georgetown, died Wednesday at the Bear Lake County Nursing Home in Montpelier. He was born Sept. 10, 1890, at Georgetown, to Alma and Louisa Jane Sheffield Hayes. He was the
eighth cliild Of 1O and also had 12 half-brothers and sisters. He attended public schools in
Georgetown and "higlochool at the Fielding-Academy in Paris.
He married Emma Althea Rasmussen April 11, 1911, in the
Salt Lake City LDS Temple. He worked as a phosphate mining
foreman, operated a small farm and was an accomplished farmer and woodworker. He served as watermaster of the Georgetown-irrigation Company for 14 years. In 1966, he
was the instigator in getting a TV line for Stringtown residents. He also enjoyed gardening. He was an active member of LDS Church and was a high priest at the time of his death He had served in many positions in the church
during his lifetime. He is survived by two daughters,
Mrs, Edna Solum and Mrs Harvey (LaRee) Kunz, both of Georgetown; 11 grandchildren, including two of whom he
raised from childhood; 25 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his
wife of 66 years, three daughters, one son and nine brothers and sisters. Funeral services were held Monday at
1 p.m. in the Georgetown LDS Church. Burial was in the Georgetown Cemetery.
