Edwin was preceded in death by his son Edwin James Schloff Jr. Edwin was the youngest and last living child in a family of nine children born to Celina and Joseph Schloff of Wyandotte, MI. Ed was a lifelong fan of the Tigers and had worked the turn styles at the old Tiger stadium at the age of 14 for a hot dog and a coke and the privilege of watching the Tiger games. He attended a Tigers Game in the new Stadium; his companions at that time enjoyed his many memories of his time spent in the old stadium. Ed graduated from St. Patrick School in Wyandotte in 1938 along with his twin brother Erwin. Before the bombing of Pearl Harbor Edwin enlisted in the Army. He was decorated with five bronze stars and one silver for his service during the war in the Europe and Africa campaigns. He survived Normandy and came home safe with five of his brothers who also served in World War II. Ed retired from Firestone and the Teamsters as a dock worker. He donated over 104 pints of blood to the Red Cross over his lifetime in his belief of service to his community. Ed moved to Grass Lake with his family in 1970 and was a member of Grass Lake Assembly of God Church. He was a janitor for the Church for over a decade. He loved his Church family with all his heart. Edwin is survived by his children, Theodora Whitaker, Ron Schloff, and Perry Schloff. Two granddaughters, Ann (Deline) Heckler and Adrienne Whitaker; five great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews of his departed brothers and sisters. He leaves a friend of great worth and companionship, Joan George. Edwin will be interred in the Schloff Family Plot at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Wyandotte with full Military Honors.
