Mary Jane "Jane Dee" Browning is the second child of George W. (no record lists the name as George William) Brown and Minerva "Minnie" Huff. George's father (unknown first name) Brown died in 1864 in Bexar County, Texas and his mother, Lorenda Locke Brown, married John Finto in 1866 in Bexar County and they had 7 children. As was typical for the time, there was no adoption, but George took the name "Finto". None of George's children are related to the Finto family but they all used the name. After George's death Minnie married John Auther Stephenson in 1909 and they had a daughter, half-sister to George's children.
