Mary Etta Lyons came to Texas with her parents as a small child, locating first in Wise County. In 1878, she married James Riley Craig and to this union, 10 children were born, three died in early childhood, and the oldest, Mrs. Lee Coffman, died in 1913. Mr. and Mrs. Craig were among the early settlers of Knox County coming in the spring of 1885 before the county was organized. Their first summer was spent in a camp on China Creek, two miles west of where Truscott is located today. By fall, lumber was freighted from Harrold which was the terminus of the Fort Worth and Denver railroad to build their house on the ranch. When their children were old enough to go to school, Mr. and Mrs. Craig lived in Benjamin during the winters. Her husband preceded her in death. Survived by her children - Henry Craig, Mrs. H.A. Smith, Mrs. F.E. Moorhouse, Mrs. Homer Barham, Mrs. Van Browning, Mrs. Seth E. Wood; one sister - Mrs. Duke Rushing. Mrs. Craig united with the Christian Church in 1890.
